tarragona and calçots
Not many people know that one of the most popular and beloved local dishes in Catalonia is "calçots," which is a special type of onion. These onions are grilled over an open fire and enjoyed with a delicious almond sauce. The town of Valls, in the province of Tarragona, is considered the birthplace of calçots. We offer you an exciting journey that will allow you to discover the ancient capital of the Tarragona province, the city of Tarragona. Afterward, we will head to Valls, where you will learn a lot about how calçots are cultivated and prepared, and of course, taste the best Catalan calçots at an authentic restaurant.
ATTENTION! The calçots season starts around the end of November and lasts until the end of March. During other times, the visit to the restaurant for calçots tasting may be replaced with a visit to an olive oil production factory.
